TheDeskShot by sanfranguy TheDeskShot by sanfranguy
It's now 97% complete, obvious things need fixing, but will mostly be addressed in post work.

This is the final desk shot, where the camera ends up for the interaction.
There will be a sense of movement as random cars go by, they'll light up the desk with white headlights/ orange backlight,s which should look nice, also with ambient music and very low street noise, the project will be complete.

Cinema 4D & Photoshop.

10 minute render
4 day project

the whole image looks really nice, i like it very much, but i must say that there are a couple of things that could be better, one of those is the pen, looks like if flying, maybe thats the sense of it isn it?, and the reflections on the lamp looks a little weird, but in overall is a great work :D

Wow, I must say that the most impressive part of this piece by far would be the lighting, I really appreciate the rig that you have set up here. Damn fine work. Still, the modelling is not to be overlooked, I seem some nice touches that really make for a sense of realism. Finally, I dig the way the scene is set up, there's a nice feel to it as if it's a real place that gets used on daily basis. On the other hand, there are somethings about this scene that bother me. For example, there's a blow out spot on the ceiling from the one lamp that's a bit intense and thus, unrealistic looking. Also, the monitor's screen and the phone's panel are blank but I guess that's something you'll pick up in the post work. Anyway, all that aside, this is quite the impressive piece.

this is pimp!! but there are some stuff i dont like but its not yet complete but still ill tell u: the palm cause its standing and well i think it should be layed on the table :S then the pencil and the wire of the telephone seem like not OVER the table cause they have like a shadow they seem like a little higher and well the laptop that has no keys a white screen and IMO a too strong reflection on the part where the keys go :S it should be like more opaque... IMO

i hope that helps but its all good better than anything ive seen cause it looks pretty damn realistic

hey very nice!~ :D But the pencil seems floating while the PDA can't be like that vertically standing on the table...Perhaps you can just add a black sharp shadow under the pencil ;)

aquaglow gave you some points.. and something more I thought of was the lack of bumpmaping on the table.

I do like the whole scene, and I love that lamp at the back with the warm color,,

Nice work. A fast render for such good lighting, it obviously can't be true GI at that speed. Did you emulate it using a sphere of lights or something?

A few minor crits in case you need them:
The telephone wire appears to be floating a tiny bit above the desk.
Laptop and phone are far too shiny, turn down the raytracing imo.
The volumetric lighting on the lamp looks cool, but doesn't fit in with the rest of the scene, and there appears to be no physical reason for it. It looks good, so only take it out if you're going for realism I suppose.
Texturing issues with bottom part of bookcase on far left?
Too much spec on leaves in vase imo.

Overall great work! :)

"Did you emulate it using a sphere of lights or something"

No fake radiosity sphere's. I would never use a sphere inside. Now there is a cube of lights, but they're all relative to the ceiling lights above, that has the same effect as a dome and works better for interiors.

Thanks for the other tips. I am finishing up as we speak some of the small things that the client wants changing.

Time = Money (that's a good thing)
